Devlog #7: start of sprint 2
This week the game has some more functionality and art to discover.
Artists
UFO & House
A UFO has been added to the environment so you can really get the feeling that you are fighting against an alien invasion and these also usefull as good lighting as a few have been setup around the edges of the map. The house just gives a bit more of a farm feeling and is just a big prop.
Fence & Barrels
The fence model has been added to the game where the cows will inside of and the barrels have a visual diffrence between the explosive barrel and the freezing barrel.
Character lighting
We have added some lights on top of the characters so they arstand out in the scene. Slanky has a warm orange light while big has a blue cold light.
Developers
Enemies
We made a lot of progress on the enemies this past week. The AI works perfectly as we intended, if the enemies are closer to the fence then they are to the player, they will attack the fence. If the player gets to close they will go after the player an wont stop chasing them until they go out of range. Currently the main focus to finish the small enemy and in case we have time left over we shall create a big enemy that has more health and will be stronger. The enemies also spawn from spawnpoints, which means they will spawn infintely at the moment. We will change it a bit so they spawn in waves.
Fence
The fence has been put in because thats ultimate goal of the game. If the enemies would be able to get through it will be game over. The fence can nbe destroyed already but there is no visual queue yet when this happens.
Camera
The camera has been updated a tiny bit, by which we mean that both characters are almost visible all the time. It's a bit buggy so there will be a bit more tweaks somewhere in the following weeks.
Abilities
Most of the abilities have been finished. With bigtim you have a knockbackpush, which launches the enemies backwards and pushes bigtim himself also a little bit so you can create some distance when you get into a thight spot. He also has a flamethrower which damages every enemy within its radius. For slanky tim you have a frost grenade which slows down the enemy movement and also does some damage, a dash that launches himself in the direction he is looking at through enemies and the final ability he has is hyperspeed with which he can use for a few seconds to become really fast. Only one of the abilities still has to be made for big tim, but you will hear about that another time
